Confused and confusing

Confusion of interests is a interesting trait.

It indicates someone who has so many things on the go that they are spinning their wheels, getting few things actually finished.

Obviously someone who has organizational ability will take longer to get to this point, but confusion can appear in the writing of anyone, if the situation is right.

Just as having too much going on at once, tends to have things running into each other and overlapping in your life, so the writing overlaps.

Confusion shows in lines of writing running into the lines above and below.  If lined paper is being used then it can be more difficult not to do this, so discretion should be applied when evaluating writing on paper with, especially, narrow lines.  However, it’s still the same trait.

The more often the lines overlap, the more the confusion.

If you can find a trend in that the lines only overlap when the writer is writing about a particular subject, that is significant.  It would mean that it is on this topic that overload and confusion are occurring. Although it is more usual to find it spread out throughout the writing, regardless of topic.

As I write this, it is the holiday season. A time when many of us are overstretched and over busy.  So if you find your lines of writing starting to run into each other, stop, take a deep breath and prioritize what you have to do.

Work or play done in confusion with other things is never as well done or enjoyed as much, so take it easy.  One step at at a time, but always one more step, and you’ll get there successfully.

Happy Holidays.
